Report of Working Parties – 18th July 2019

Fernery Gardening Group

A group of 10 volunteers worked in the Fernery. Although the focus was on preparing the site for the visit of the BPS East Anglia three days later, on 20th July, a full range of activities was pursued.

Planting Beds

Weeding continued and more wild flowers were planted on the North West Bank, and mulch then applied. Colin continued planting and marking ferns.

Rock Work Cleaning

Chalk graffiti was carefully washed off the grotto walls.

Scrub-bashing – the Park Field

After a spring/early summer break of 4 months while the birds were nesting, a small group led by Andrew Beattie returned to the Park Field. Their initial task was to clear the Ancient Track (Ghylls Hill) once again which had become overgrown since the last visit in March 2019.
