If you have enjoyed visiting the Danesbury Fernery please consider making a donation towards our maintenance costs – payment details are given below.
Since the start of the project we have enjoyed a great deal of funding and support from the Welwyn Hatfield Borough Council (the landowners), and from local groups and organisations, such as the Welwyn Festival Committee, the Welwyn Wailers, the WGC Horticultural Society, and many others, including private benefactors.
You too could become a Private Benefactor
We are sometimes asked if it would be possible to donate, or offer a bench in memory of a loved one.
Whereas the offer to donate a bench will always be a thoughtful suggestion, space is limited in the Fernery and we have consistently applied a rule that to be fair to everybody we will not install ‘Memorial Benches’.
However, a very popular, and equally lasting way for you to remember a loved one or a personal memory, is to arrange for the FODF to select, purchase, and then plant an appropriate specimen tree or plant on your behalf, which you would then fund.
This approach meets many objectives:
- Specimen trees and and trees can be very expensive to purchase, demanding a draw down on limited funds raised by the volunteers.
- By making a private offer to pay for the purchase of selected plants or trees, donors can gain lasting involvement and personal enjoyment from their visits.
- Donors can directly help the volunteers in the further essential development and improvement of the planting in the Fernery, for future generations to enjoy.
If you would like to make a cash donation, and attribute the donation to a specific purchase of a tree or a plant in this way, please first contact the Committee at to discuss how this might be arranged and organised.
Thank you.
