The Fernery doesn’t look after itself!

27th April 2024 By John Roper

An obvious statement perhaps.

To ‘keep the show on the road’ our volunteer Gardening Group look after the Fernery and care for it endlessly, in every living moment – and not just on Tuesdays throughout the year – and not just on the third Thursday every month when work parties include the wider Nature Reserve too.

But, we should not need reminding that as with all ‘shows’, it is not only the actors on the stage, good as they are, who should take the applause. So how, therefore, do we explain that in our efforts at publicity and in telling our tales of success, we have managed so far to completely forget telling you about Jess Heather – our youngest volunteer – who regularly performs a unique role that is beyond most of our abilities, and is undoubtedly of inestimable value?

Sara, our Chair, is intent on correcting this major omission – and we take this opportunity to share her message with you!

Sara writes:

If you are wondering how our Instagram account has miraculously transformed itself, this is due to the hard work of the youngest member of our team (by a long way!), Jess Heather. We would like to take this opportunity to  thank Jess for bringing us into the modern world. We have had many favourable comments since Jess has taken the account under her wing.

Thank you Jess!’
