We have been informed by the Borough Council that they have entered us once again in this prestigious Competition between Borough and District Councils.
The Organising Body is the Royal Horticultural Society. (Click here) for details of the history of this Competition).
In 2018 – our first entry in the Competition – Danesbury’s Victororian Fernery won the Anglia in Bloom Award in the Conservation Category.
In the Welwyn Hatfield Times John Roper reported:
“Our volunteers, working in close partnership with WHC, are of course proud that the Victorian Fernery – described in 1883 as the ‘best fernery to be found in the Home Counties’ – is once again receiving praise and recognition.”
He added: “The Anglia in Bloom Conservation Award is certainly one that now belongs right at the top in the annals of the history of this Victorian gem.”
In the 2019 Competition we have been entered as a Special Category!
The Judges are due on site on 10th July 2019, at a time yet to be advised.
