On Tuesday 3rd September 24 a group of volunteers joined Sara and the Committee in celebration of the end of another successful year Managing and Maintaining the Fernery. The high point was without doubt the fantastic award of £1000 from the Welwyn Festival Committee which had been officially presented at their Grand Prize Giving Evening on 22nd August 24.
The photo shows a few of the Fernery volunteers raising their glasses to thank the Welwyn Festival Committee for their wonderful work in the community and for their generosity.

FODF Costs
There is a non-stop need to raise funds for new and replacement planting and tools, and in the wake of the Welwyn Festival Award new ideas are flooding in already!
The FODF Committee will work on plans to decide how best this amazing award will be spent and it is expected that a Master Plan will be agreed at the forthcoming AGM on 26th September 2024.
Fernery Open Day 2025 – Sunday 22nd June
The FODF Committee has decided that the Fernery will be Open once again as part of the 2025 Festival Open Gardens Programme and, rather than a weekday, the Fernery will be Open on a Sunday, with extended hours and entertainment to suit all families.
Times and details will be published in the New Year.
